Norway Rats:

• Swimmers and climbers who can survive in any situation
• Rounded ends can be found on the ends of droplets
• Locate breeding areas and safe havens such as fences, houses, or trees, and dig burrows there.
• Disease-carrying parasites, fleas, and mites, and the contamination of food have made them infamous.
• Burrow digging and gnawing through electrical lines have been known to cause structural damage.

House Mouse

• Brown or gray house mice have a cream-colored belly.
• The ears and the body are rounded.
• Typically between 2 and 4 inches in length, however, newborns are much smaller.
• eat seeds, nuts, and insects, but will also scavenge food waste for their own use.
• Use insulation, paper, fabric, and other materials to build nests in places like wall gaps.
• Can swim, but would rather avoid it if it could
• Jumps a foot in the air.
• Blind to colors and unable to see beyond six feet in front of them.
• A half-dozen mice can be born to a female every three weeks.

• Mice leave gnaw imprints on food packages, greasy rub patterns on walls, and pointed droppings.

How to Prevent Mice from Invading Your Home

Temperatures are gradually decreasing, which is a signal to all creatures to seek shelter from the weather and become cozy. Mice and rats, like us, can be motivated by the same things that we are! If you want to keep rodents out of your home or business, do the following things before the snow flies. (The National Pest Management Association gave these pointers.)

 

• Outside doors need sweeps and screens.
• Mesh-screened vents and chimneys.
• Seal exterior cracks and holes using caulk, steel wool, or both.
• The best way to keep food fresh is to keep it in airtight containers.
• Maintain dry, well-ventilated attics, basements, and crawl spaces.
• Replace the basement foundation, weather stripping, and loose mortar.
• The property needs leaks and clogs fixed.
• Check boxes, bags, and other shipments for rodent indicators before bringing them inside.
• Store firewood at least 20 feet away from the house, and keep plants cut and pruned back.
