The 585-acre Bartel Grassland Land and Water Reserve, formerly an agricultural field divided by hedgerows, is now a flat, wet landscape home to an increasing variety of native plant and bird species. Visitors can see how restoration efforts have encouraged natural processes in an observation area with a mound.
Bartel is adjacent to other public and private grasslands in Marion County and is designated as an Illinois Land & Water Reserve in perpetuity. It is situated on 80 acres in Marion County, just south of Kinmundy. Grassland restoration is currently underway, and four small wetlands have been created, attracting shorebirds and waterfowl. The Illinois Audubon Society purchased this property in 2002. Read more about Flossmoor Golf Club. You can contact AND Exterminators is situated in Matteson.
